Geoscience and petroleum engineering services
We interpret well data, advise on tools and technology, and supply downhole equipment. Safety and the environment come first in how we work.
About VITGS
VIT Geotechnical Services Nigeria Limited, known as VITGS, provides services across several parts of the oil and gas industry in Nigeria. From the field
Oil was discovered in commercial quantity at Oloibiri on 15 January 1956, and the first crude was exported in February 1958. Reading what lies below the surface has been part of the industry ever since: the first electrical well log was recorded at Pechelbronn, France, on 5 September 1927.

In practice

01
Petrophysical studies use well data to describe the rock and the fluids in it: how porous it is, what it holds and how much.
02
Reservoir navigation uses data gathered while drilling to keep the well inside the intended zone.
03
Cased hole logs help check the cement behind the casing and show how the well is producing.
How we engage
Every project is different. This is the general path from the first conversation to delivery, agreed with each client.
01
You tell us about the project, the wells and the questions to answer.
02
We check the data supplied and confirm what can be delivered.
03
We interpret the data and test the findings.

We also give advisory and business development support on tools, technologies and software, and we procure downhole well accessories and other project items.
Open hole logs are recorded in the well before casing is run and describe the formations. Cased hole logs are recorded after casing and cement are in place. They are used to check the cement and to see how the well is performing.
It means using data collected while drilling to steer the well within the intended zone of the reservoir.
